Smoked BBQ Ribs Recipe

  • Prepare the Ribs:
    • Preheat your smoker to 225°F (110°C).
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for better flavor absorption.
    • Rub the ribs with olive oil and then coat them evenly with mustard to help the dry rub stick.
    • Generously apply the dry rub on both sides of the ribs, making sure they are well-coated.
  • Smoke the Ribs:
    • Place the ribs in the smoker with the bone side down.
    • Add wood chips to the smoker to infuse that rich, smoky flavor.
    • Smoke the ribs for 3 hours, maintaining a steady temperature of 225°F. Spritz the ribs with apple cider vinegar every hour to keep them moist.
  • Wrap and Cook:
    • After 3 hours, remove the ribs from the smoker and wrap them in aluminum foil.
    • Return the wrapped ribs to the smoker and cook for an additional 2 hours.
  • Add BBQ Sauce:
    • While the ribs are cooking, prepare the BBQ sauce by combining all the ingredients in a saucepan.
    • Simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
    • After the ribs have cooked for 2 hours in the foil, remove them from the smoker and carefully unwrap them.
    • Brush the ribs generously with the BBQ sauce and place them back in the smoker for a final hour to caramelize the sauce.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the ribs from the smoker and let them rest for 10 minutes.
    • Slice between the bones to separate the ribs.
    • Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side and enjoy your perfectly smoked BBQ ribs!

Tips for the Perfect BBQ Ribs:

Temperature Control:

Keep a close eye on the smoker’s temperature to ensure the ribs cook evenly.

Resting Time:

Allowing the ribs to rest after cooking helps the juices redistribute, making them even more tender.

Experiment with Flavors:

Feel free to tweak the dry rub and BBQ sauce to suit your taste preferences.

Choose the Right Wood:

The type of wood you use for smoking plays a big role in the flavor of your ribs. Hickory and applewood are popular choices
